Designer Feature Friday: Luly Yang Couture

The design collaboration between Luly Yang Couture and Greenvelope has been an incredible adventure in fashion, design, and inspiration. Headquartered only blocks from each other, we are thrilled to be able to introduce you to this internationally acclaimed designer who has inspired and brought this incredible collection to life.

Read on to learn more about Luly, from her inspirations and her love of design to her advice to newly engaged couples.

1. What is your favorite part about being a designer?

It is such an incredible feeling to be able to conceive an idea and be able to bring it to fruition. Its so rewarding to see my clients creating memories in these pieces that I work so hard to perfect.

2. How would you describe a Luly Yang client?

The Luly woman definitely has an appreciation for beauty and for art that extends beyond fashion. She expresses herself through art, music and technology and loves to travel and to constantly be learning new things. Ultimately, I think she is confident and stays true to herself.  I am lucky to experience this woman daily in my boutique and hear her share details with me about her wedding or special event and how she wants to live her life.

3. Where do you find inspiration for your own designs?

For me, inspiration comes from experiences and moments that happen naturally in our day-to-day lives.  The inspirations for my collections have always occurred to me at very organic and surprising times.

4. As a designer, you travel all the time. What is your favorite place you have ever traveled to?

It is so difficult to choose one favorite place in the world as I am inspired by different elements in each culture and environment that I travel to.  I just recently visited Italy in the Alps of South Tyrol and was so captivated by their grandeur and the enchantment of the nature surrounding me.

5. If you could offer advice to a couple that is just starting to plan their wedding, what advice would you offer them?

It is so important to create a wedding that represents the couples’ love story and personalities. Friends and family appreciate attending an event where the heart and soul of the host is recognized throughout the celebration. From my experience, planning ahead allows for more options to personalize your wedding and more peace for the couple.

6. What inspires you most about the collaboration with Greenvelope?

I started my career in graphic design, so designing this collection with Greenvelope reminds me of that time. I am very excited to continue sharing my love of design with brides and party hosts around the world!  I believe everyone should be able to experience beautiful design with the assistance of exceptional service for all aspects of their event planning process, starting with their invitations.

I love working with and learning from other local business owners and Greenvelope is a forward-thinking company with innovative thinkers and I appreciate that they focus on creating experiences.  Its exciting for me to bring fashion and technology together and this has been a great opportunity for us to explore new mediums.
