It all began with what Emilia describes as “love at first site,” and 6 years later, Emilia and Socrates tied the knot in a stunning and intimate ceremony at Campbell Point House in Australia. Together, they were able to create a wedding celebration that was distinctively them and that they truly loved. Keep reading to see all the beauty and insights from Emilia & Socrates’ special day.

While Emilia says that their friends and family were more than ready for them to walk down the aisle, their connection was anything but delayed. “We met at the end of 2008. At the time I co-owned a high-end fashion boutique and he was part of a start-up advertising agency. He visited my boutique to try and drum up business and we spoke about everything else but advertising – it was love at first sight!”

Campbell Point was a dream venue that we hired for 24 hours, spoiling our friends and family with an indoor ceremony and reception and ending the night with dancing and desserts. A handful of guests stayed at the house and enjoyed luxury accommodation.

I loved our wedding so much I would easily do it again. We were amazed just how calm and relaxed we were on the day and that’s because we remembered this day is for us and we organized it how we wanted it to be and in the end everyone loved it.

Emilia & Socrates 3 tips for couples planning their wedding:

  1. Decide on a budget and try to stick to it. If you have never budgeted with your partner for something that can be $10,000’s of dollars, start learning. Because we have been together for 6 years and have budgeted for things in the past, this event was easy to organise in less than 5 months. I honestly have no idea how couples with out any of these life experiences are suddenly expected to put an event together as well as having to manage the budget – that is a lot of pressure!
  2. Don’t be too precious and remember it’s about you (not your guests). This is your day and you are the one who is marrying your life long friend (not your friends or family). It helps to keep this in mind, I realise some couples have things out of their control that make this challenging, but for others try to embrace and enjoy the journey. I loved our wedding so much I would easily do it again. We were amazed just how calm and relaxed we were on the day and that’s because we remembered this day is for us and we organized it how we wanted it to be and in the end everyone loved it.
  3. Say thank you to those who helped and supported you. You will need help (unless you pay someone to do things for you). We didn’t and we relied on our friends and family. We made sure not come across as being too pushy or rude because at the end of the day they are doing us a favour. So make sure to thank those around you on the day and of course afterwards.

Thanks so much to Emilia and Socrates for letting us be a part of their special day, and for sharing their story with us today. To read more of Emilia’s wedding budget tips, you can check out her blog here or get started with your own wedding invitations here.
