Amori

On December 21, 2012 (the day the Mayans predicted the end of the world), Richard proposed to Amori and their love story was cemented in a custom infographic save the date.

With it’s stunning landscapes, sunsets, culture, and good food, Amori and Richard chose to have their picturesque wedding in Amori’s home country, South Africa.  As expatriates, their guests came from all over the world.  Their seating chart consisted of symbols representing the nationalities of their family and friends that attended our wedding. They had people from 11 different countries and each symbol was representative of their home country, for example – American is the Statue of Liberty and Australian the Kangaroo etc. Since Amori is South African and Richard is New Zealander, they called the main table “Perfect Union”.

Their wedding had a eco-chic theme. They were able to incorporate many environmentally friendly ideas into their wedding, including their custom Greenvelope wedding invitation, salt dough guest name tags, popcorn confetti, and the handmade rustic chandeliers with LED candles.  They created a stamp of their thumbprints in the shape of a heart and used it on all their stationery items, giving their wedding a very personal touch.

Growing up, Amori absolutely loved attending weddings. She wanted to share some of that magic she experienced as a child, so she asked the eldest daughters of her cousins to be flower girls. The little girls absolutely loved it. Afterwards, Amori got a little note from one of them saying that it was the best day of their life and they want their wedding one day to be just like hers.

Amori and Richard went above and beyond to make their guests happy and comfortable. For wedding favours, each guest received a white wooden photo frame with their photo taken at a photo booth.  They also secretly collected photos of their guests on their wedding day and had them framed and displayed during the cocktails and canapé hour. Guests were handed parasols during the ceremony to protect them from the sun. The tag on the parasols read “may you always be showered with love, please take one”. Next to the dance floor was a chest of flip flops. The tag on the flip flops read “a lovely treat for your dancing feet.”

Both Richard and Amori absolutely love cheesecake.  After they cut the cake they had the chef create 10 different cheese boards and placed one on each table for people to nibble on as part of their midnight snack. On the bottom was the camembert, second tier was cheddar and gouda, third tier was berry goats cheese, and top layer was the brie.

Congratulations to the couple, and thank you for sharing your big day with us!
